Finding
good Asian restaurant is quite hard in Germany. For me, except for Berlin,
other cities that I have ever been to don’t have many good Asian restaurant (ah
yes I have been only to 4 cities so far #clearthroat). So that is why, when I
was in Hamburg and and I found good Asian restaurant, I feel like I wanna move
there and live like a Kanye West and Kim K riding some boat in Alster river (ignore this sentence, please).
The Asian
restaurant that I was visiting in Hamburg is called quan do. It was like Vietnamese
street kitchen that reminds me a loooot of District Mot in Berlin Mitte or
Monsieur Vuong. They don’t offer much varieties of food but they indeed served very fresh of food. And the reason why I visited the restaurant was simply I wasn’t
full enough eating Krabbenbrötchen from BrĂĽcke 10 (read my review here) and I need RICE and Asian can't live without rice! Like what my mother said, you haven’t had any lunch/dinner yet
if you haven’t had any rice on your plate. Hamburger, pizza, döner? All of them
are snack! #asianlife #asianthuglife
Plus, since I knew
that it would be long day and full of walk plus I wanted to spend the rest of my
night in Reeperbahn (which would require a lot of energy, if you know what I mean),
I wanted to have some filling food with spicy sauce in it. Sooo, after reading
the menu quite a while, I decided to eat rice with stir fry beef and
vegetables while my bf ordered Bun Bao which was glass noodle salad with beef in Vietnamese style. Verdict? See below:
Stir fry
beef and vegetables with rice
One thing: It
was surprisingly good! You definitely can taste the freshness of the ingredients
and the beef as well. The taste of the beef was somehow salty, a little touch
of sweetness and also tangy from the lemongrass. The vegetables were crunchy and it
was really good! Two things that I didn’t like was there were so many onion in
the dish and I am just an onion disliker no doubt and the rice was too sticky for
me. But other than that, it was nice food! Overall: 8/10
Bun Bao
Have you
ever felt like why on earth your companion ordered better food that you did?
And this is what I was feeling that day! My bf ordered better food than me and
I hate it (#teenagedrama). The beef in the salad somehow tasted better than my
beef. The sauce was light yet refreshing and the peanuts on top just added the flavor
on to it! Hands down, his food was better than mine this time. Only this time. Overall:
8,5/10
Conclusion
If you
happen to be in Hamburg or live there, you need to visit quan do. The portion
they give is pretty big and filling so you will have enough energy for walking
around or do something. Its location which is near Hamburg Main Station (Hbf) also
adds additional point to it. Oh yes, somehow I have an impression that quan do
is kinda like the place where the cool kids hang out since I saw many stylish
and hipster kids over there. I might be wrong but whatever, man, I just
definitely want to go back to Hamburg and explore the city more!

P.S.:
Hamburg by far is the city with the most good looking people after Barcelona
for me. When I was there, there were many bachelor/bachelorette parties and those
girls/guys were goddamn looking fine! The style was somehow a mix between Vienna
and Berlin, so you still can see some classic style but also modern touch on it.
Oh man, I definitely fell in love with this city!
